We pulled up to their location in Charlotte, NC and started
walking down the gravel path
that leads to the field of
Savannah's dreams. The sun was still bright behind us but in one
hour, it would hover above the
horizon and the sky would become
full of pale blue, honey, and peach.
A big theme of this session was sunlight. We had rays of gold bursting through behind them. You can reach out and feel how warm these images are. I think Now-a-days light flare is considered a mistake, but I'm not really sure why it ever became labeled that. It adds to much emotion to an image. I am all about feeling like sunshine.
These two have been engaged for months and we just now in October were able to document their love story. Alex has been serving in the Navy in Japan for the last year and a half. It was an honor to watch them unfold before the camera and let their authentic love make way for photographs that you can literally feel.... While I was editing them, I was genuinely emotional. Their love just pours out. Savannah told me she wanted memories that were "romantic, intimate, warm, and passionate"..... I mean.... I think we nailed it?
The most special part about my job is that people show up full of hope and with willingness to be vulnerable. Pressing for instruction until eventually they drift into existence... that's where the magic happens. When they forget I'm there.
Just two lovers. At sunset.
